Glyn Davidge

31/12/1933 to 18/3/2006

Newport, Wales and British Lions Back row forward Glyn Davidge has sadly passed away.

The Gwent talisman started his rugby career in Newport  in 1952 at the age of 18, shortly before leaving for National Service, where he played for the British Army team.

Glyn had 9 caps for Wales – with the first coming against France in 1959, he also toured South Africa with the 1962 British Lions.

He captained Newport RFC, amassing over 250 games for the club and scoring 28 tries, the highlight of his club career would have to be the victories over the 1957 Australia touring team and then a famous 3-0 victory over the mighty All Blacks in 1963.
