Dr Jack Mathews
- Born Bridgend 21 June 1920
- Clubs – Bridgend, Cardiff, The Army, Combined Services, Barbarians, Hampshire.
- Position – centre / wing
- Won the Welsh AAA junior 200m sprint title in 1937 and served in the Royal Medical Corps during the second World War.
- He had played in 5 international before winning his first cap.
- Captained Cardiff from 1945 – 1947 and from 1951 – 1952.
- Played in 20 games in the 1950 British Lions tour to New Zealand and Australia.
- Chief medical Officer to the 1980 British Lions touring team.
- Awarded an OBE in 1981.
