Sixth Honda Hall of Fame

15th March 2007

The sixth Honda Hall of Fame was held at the Cardiff Blues Ground – the famous Cardiff Arms Park, in the Grand Marquee, specially erected for the Wales v England Home International Match. It was the biggest Hall of Fame Event held to date.

This year 5 players were inaugurated: Bryn Meredith, Dai Morris, J J Williams, Terry Holmes and Rob Howley. The ‘Voice of Rugby World Cup’, John Taylor, hosted the evening and ‘NVS’ and ‘Only Men Aloud’ provided the musical entertainment.

Windsor Davies joined us to present an award and we were treated to a clip from the famous ‘Grand Slam!’ Former All Black scrum-half Justin Marshall, (now of Ospreys, Delme Thomas, Gerald Davies, Clive Rowlands, First Minister, Rhodri Morgan and Honda’s Martin Sanders also presented Hall of Fame Awards.

A lively and amusing pre-match discussion was hosted by ‘Grav’ who was joined by Derek Quinnell and Bobby Windsor, giving the guests plenty to think about!

Dai Watkins addressed his first event as Chairman of the Charity and we were delighted that our President Cliff Morgan and his wife Pat travelled from their new home on the Isle of Wight to join us after recovering from his recent operation.

A very memorable evening was enjoyed by all with all the funds raised going towards the charity, enabling us to assist ex players in need of help. We now look forward to our next event. Please keep an eye on the website for details.
