Graham Price
Born in Moascar, Egypt, Graham Price returned to Wales to be capped at school level from the Jones West Monmouth Grammar School. He was a schoolboy Athletics and Rugby International. He played for Pontypool RFC throughout his rugby career and won his first cap in 1975 alongside his team mates – new cap Charlie Faulkner and Bobby Windsor. This trio played together on nineteen occasions for Wales as part of the legendary Pontypool Front Row (Viet-Gwent).

One of Graham Price’s greatest moments was when he scored that famous try on his debut against France in 1975. It showed that if any player would fit into the modern era it would be him. He never enjoyed a Lions Test series victory even though he helped to destroy many famous New Zealand and South Africa scrums. Graham holds the record for most games against New Zealand whilst playing for the Lions (twenty-four in total). He actually played in twelve test during his Lions career, he was selected for the “Greatest ever Welsh team” – and rightly so!
He was a complete prop and even though he was the baby of the legendary front row he went on to become the highest capped front row player of his time. He played for Pontypool while still in school in 1969 and played his last game in 1992, amassing over 600 games, and we can honestly say that Graham Price is one of Wales’ greatest ever players
