Bobby Windsor
Bobby Windsor was born in Newport and educated at Brynglas Secondary Modern School where he represented Newport Schools as an Outside Half. He started his first class career at Cross Keys, but won his first cap against Australia in 1973 from Pontypool. Bobby joined that elite band of players, by scoring on his debut.

After his move to Pontypool he went on to win twenty-eight consecutive caps for Wales, winning four consecutive Triple Crowns and two Grand Slams. He was the lynchpin in the great Welsh pack of the 70’s. A British Lion on two occasions – (South Africa in 1974 and New Zealand in 1977, playing in five test matches). It was South Africa during the 1974 tour, that Bobby played his most effective rugby. In winning the series 3-0 Bobby Windsor was generally regarded as the best no.2 in the world at that time. It was his influence on the more experienced players around him that led to the Lions totally destroying for the first time ever a South African scrum.
He will be regarded as one of the ‘Greats’ to wear the no.2 jersey for Wales and the Lions and as he now enjoys retirement after a successful business career the ‘Duke’ can feel well satisfied for his contribution to Cross Keys, Pontypool, Wales and the Lions.
